The options do not stop at the covers: we also offer two machines. The E-DAVINCI covering machine is able to cover and protect books of ANY size. Its dimensions are 30 x 3.5 x 8.7 inches and it weighs 20 lb. The E-LEONARDO offers the possibility to cover and protect most sizes of books. In relation to dimensions, the E-LEONARDO is smaller than the E-DAVINCI but not less effective; it is simply a matter of what makes sense for your library and workflow! Essentially, the E-LEONARDO is lighter and more compact, which can be beneficial for librarians who do not need to cover many oversized books.
Beyond the flexibility of options, what are the other advantages of the CoLibrì system? The principal benefit is the speed. There is not a faster system on the market; in 30 seconds or less you can cover any book. Much of the speed and ease of use comes from the fact you don’t need extra supplies like glue, tape, scissors, etc. Also, our machines have an automatic one-touch button and it's really easy to learn and use.
Another aspect that distinguishes CoLibri from other systems is the fact that ours is recyclable. Also, we offer ECO covers that contain I’M GREEN™ POLYETHYLENE. Polyethylene is normally produced from fossil fuels, such as oil or natural gas. I’m Green™ Polyethylene is a plastic material made from a renewable vegetable raw material: ethanol, which is extracted from sugar cane.
So, why should you use CoLibri? Not only because you will save money in the long run by safeguarding your collection, but you'll also save time in the short run by using the quickest book covering machine available!
]]>CO- WORKING AND CO-LIVING
Individuals and teams, whether employed by enterprises or self-employed, are brought together in common areas where they can share ideas and information across their work and foster a feeling of community in co-working spaces. Co-living spaces, on the other hand, bring people together in communal living spaces such as kitchens and dining rooms, gyms, theaters, and spas — bedrooms, baths, and kitchens can remain more private – to provide inhabitants a stronger sense of community and social life. Libraries may be rethinking their layouts as a result of co-working and co-living facilities, blending classic open floor plans with smaller study rooms and carrels where small groups can interact with technology and other amenities.
CONNECTED LEARNING
Learning that is "very social, interest-driven, and directed toward educational, economic, or civic opportunities" is referred to as connected learning. In order to help level the playing field between the haves and the have-nots, Students must have constant access to new and emerging technologies and the internet. Libraries that provide access to these tools will be better able to connect with learners and be integrated into connected learning environments.
GAMIFICATION
Gaming offers a unique opportunity for learners of all age levels to develop their literacy skills in a variety of ways. Libraries, known as spaces for interest-driven learning and self-directed discovery, are ideal for the type of learning and discovery promoted by games.
VIRTUAL REALITY
Virtual reality is progressing quickly in a variety of ways, including traditional virtual reality that consists of creating different environments, allowing people to be “present” in an alternative one, augmented reality that starts with the real world and overlays virtual objects and information, and immersive or 360-degree video that captures an entire scene in which the viewer can look up, down, and anywhere else around. There is a significant push to bring virtual reality to education with many innovators focusing on two of the key services of libraries: collections and spaces
DIGITAL NATIVES
Digital natives have grown up with internet access, depend heavily on mobile devices, heavily consume social networking services, consider speed to be among the most important characteristics of digital products and services, and multitask across devices and between work and entertainment. Combined, these characteristics require libraries and librarians to adapt services and programs to the new needs and expectations of digital natives.
Although it is a fact that technology and people are changing the world and that the emerging trends are gaining ground, people still enjoy reading physical books. Consequently, you should consider the fact that books need to be protected. We offer a system which you will feel secure your books won’t be damaged.

KEEP COLLECTIONS
Of course, the main reason to cover your books is quite practical: protection. Books that have an extra layer of protection are safer from the normal wear and tear that comes from regular use. Paperback books and collections geared for younger readers are particularly susceptible to damage. While there is no way to prevent all damage, keeping books covered certainly ensures greater longevity of library inventory.
LIBRARIES AND REPLACEMENT COSTS
A poorly treated, under-protected collection can represent a big cost to libraries. While patrons who lose or cause extensive damage to books can be fined to cover replacement costs, there is no way to recoup the loss of funds needed to replace books after years of use. While it is normal for collections to become worn over time, covering your books can reduce the frequency of replacement expenditures by extending the life of your collection. Book covers practically pay for themselves when you take into account the money saved from reduced purchases of replacements. In fact, the extra savings can even allow you to purchase new books and expand your collection!
COLIBRI COVER SYSTEM
Our system gives each cover a custom fit, protecting books from moisture, scratches, dust, fading and yellowing. This preserves the text and helps to more than double the lifespan of the book.
Different collections have different needs and librarians have varying preferences. That is why we offer you various sizes and cover technologies to choose from, including ECO covers, extra thick covers, and crystal-clear transparent covers. Why choose CoLibri? Well, not only will you save money in the long-term by protecting your collection, but you will save time in the short-term with the fastest book covering system on the market!

The COVID-19 pandemic impacts every product sector, including libraries. In fact, it hit librarians and their communities in a unique way. Public libraries are an important public resource, especially for vulnerable populations who looking for employment assistance, web and PC access; in some cases, libraries even provide child care services.
Beyond all of these crucial public services available at libraries, libraries are also fundamentally “places of learning and connection for all ages and backgrounds” as stated by ALA President Wanda Kay Brown. The pandemic’s impact on libraries, consequently put these essential services and enrichment opportunities in jeopardy.
HOW WERE THE PUBLIC LIBRARIES AFFECTED BY THE PANDEMIC?
The COVID-19 pandemic made it more difficult for libraries to render all of these services. Libraries have had to close their physical buildings and start delivering their services and resources online. They pivoted from managing broad in-person services and programs on-site to rapidly setting up virtual talks and classes, and contact-less pickup.
STRATEGIC LESSONS LEARNED DURING THE PANDEMIC
For libraries, 2020 was year of disorder and disruption. However, a portion of the change's libraries have had to make during the pandemic will remain useful in the long term. Just to name a few, we can mention the fact that libraries are more aware of their existence as “media companies.” This is, their focus on creating digital media and promoting it, has increased. Another example could be curb site pick up of materials. While originally implemented as a Covid-safe measure, libraries may find that offering curbside pick of materials post-pandemic is a worthwhile innovation to allow library resources to be utilized by more people with greater ease.
NEW ACTIVITIES TO CONTINUE TO SERVE THEIR COMMUNITIES
Libraries quickly found new and useful services to carry with them going forward. Reallocating print collection budgets into perhaps other forms of media is one example. Working to coordinate your library with local services and information to better solidify the library’s place as the community’s information hub is another. Other digital adaptations that might serve continues use beyond the pandemic are digital ordering of materials alongside the usual in-person services, and as well as implementing or expanding the use of virtual library cards.
Our CoLibri team is completely aware of the importance of the libraries around the country, and that’s why we want to collaborate with them in providing them new services such us our Eco-friendly product. WAYS TO PROMOTE THE IDEA OF GREEN LIBRARY
Let’s start with the question “what is a green library?”. According to the New World Encyclopedia (2017) “a green library is a library built with environmental concerns in mind. Green libraries are a part of the larger green building movement.”
Working from that very broad definition, we can see that there are many ways for a library to move toward being a green library. They can range from higher level changes such as choosing green certified suppliers and offering virtual client administrators, to the everyday changes of recycling, eliminating single use plastics and plastic packaging as much as possible, and even switching to fair-trade coffee in the break room.
LIBRARIES DOING GREEN INITIATIVES IN THE USA
Financial insecurity, energy infrastructure strain, and climate change are affecting almost everything in society, and in turn changing libraries. To help you keep up with the changes, let’s look at some specific examples of libraries doing green initiatives.
First, the Budlong Public Library in Chicago has an eco-friendly power system that supplies 7 % of the building’s electricity. Additionally, another system of divider and rooftop protection, lighting controls, and windows that keep heat out and let light in, which allows the building to operate at 20% less energy than specified by the Chicago Energy Code.
Another example is the Santa Monica Public library which hosts a green prize for sustainable literature. The purpose of this prize is to encourage and celebrate writers, illustrators and publishers who produce quality books for both children and adults. They widen public awareness of sustainability.
Our third example is the Lake View Terrace library in Los Angeles which is housed in a sustainable building. That means many elements of the actual structure such as flooring, dividers, casework boards, and tiles, are composed of recycled materials.
Finally, we have the Austin Public Library in Texas which called their communities to recycle their used batteries and cellphones. They do it as part of a friendly community competition among their local library branches. E-waste causes the uniquely harmful pollution. So, these sorts of electronic recycling programs help prevent it and can be useful and convenient to your local community.
COLIBRI BOOK ECO COVERS
We are the first book covers in the world to be certified “I’m green”. This certification which verifies that the resources we use in our covers are sustainable, demonstrating our concern about the environmental impact of day-to-day operations.
Henrick Hudson Free Library, a customer of ours, states that “Colibri Green ECO covers help you protect your books while respecting the environment and your mission.” The Henrick Hudson Library instituted a ‘green team’ to develop other sustainable initiatives internally and with local organizations. It has been such a success that the library began to communicate nationally, with the American Library Association.
BENEFITS OF THE ECO-FRIENDLY COLIBRI SYSTEM
CoLibri offers a durable and non-toxic system to cover your books. It is 100% recyclable and could be used for the popular sizes of books. What is more, these book covers are excellent for low-to-moderate use environments, such as libraries and library archives, where a strong but flexible book cover is desired. Please, take a minute to browse our green covers. Feel free to contact our team if you have any questions.
]]>One of the physical things that you can offer students to help them get excited about reading is a fun bookmark. As silly as it may be, this one item is something that young children will cherish when they’re just getting started reading or visiting the library. If you really want to prepare for the start of the school year, make sure that you have a few fun prints for students to choose from when they stop in and find a book to check out.
There are so many great books that come out each year, especially for children! Keeping tabs on the popular books that are floating around for specific age groups is a great way to ensure you are prepared for the times when children come up and ask for a recommendation. Aside from that, if there are books that are circulating that have become quite popular, a list of new books is something that you’re going to want to have to ensure you have them added to your library in advance.
In most cases, library time is a time for students to stop in and find a new book or to get comfortable and enjoy a chapter or two of the book they’ve just recently checked out. Whatever the case may be, it never hurts to devote a portion of your library to a place for students to read. Afterall, this is the goal of visiting the library regularly. With that being said, before the school year starts, make sure that you set aside some time to create a cozy and quiet reading space for the students to take advantage of. This particular part of the room could also be a great place for you to read stories to younger children visiting the library.
Library time is something that children look forward to, but it’s also a time for you to teach and mold their brains. For that reason, it’s always good to find a resource that can help you with planning your lesson plans in advance. Elementary Library is a fantastic online resource that makes it easy for librarians to get some ideas for lesson plans for children K-6. If you have been struggling to come up with ideas that you’re excited about, check out the lesson plan tool that Elementary Library has created and see if there’s anything that sparks your creativity.
Every library has a list of rules for visitors to follow. One of the most common rules is to keep quiet so that individuals reading can focus. Something that you should definitely dedicate some time to is a list of rules that you’d like for students to follow when visiting the library. Make sure that you have these in an easy to see place so that all students that come into the library can see them. As students come in for the first time, give them a quick reminder of the rules and show them where the list is. This can help minimize any trouble making from happening but can also encourage students to behave in a way that allows them to make the most of their time in the library.
When you have to account for hundreds of children handling the books in your library, the one thing that you want to prioritize is the well-being of these books. Making sure that hands are washed and that food is banned are a few things that you can do to minimize the chances of books getting damaged, but investing in book protectors never hurt! The CoLibri Cover Systems provides you with all of the protection that you need to ensure that eager children can enjoy the countless titles without damaging the covers.
The CoLibri Cover System was designed to be effective and affordable. The quick and easy system is something that you absolutely want to take advantage of in your library. Take a moment and check out the various systems that we carry and find one that suits your needs. Feel free to reach out to our team if you have any questions, we would be more than happy to help you!
]]>One of the best things that you can do to minimize the chances of your books getting damaged is to think hard about where it is that you’re going to store them. For starters, you don’t want to put your books in an area where there won’t be too much moisture. Even the slightest bit of humidity can affect the wellbeing of your books.
Aside from that, you will want to think about the placement of the books on your storage. If you’re go9ing to use a bookshelf, you want to think about whether or not the books are low enough where children or pets could get into them and damage them. If so, you may want to consider a book shelf that keeps your books from being too close to this easy-to-reach level.
A majority of books are going to have paper somewhere in the mix, which is exactly why you want to make sure that you are handling them with clean hands. Whether it’s the residue from a snack that you’ve been munching on or it’s just an excess of natural oil from your hands, it can quickly do some damage to the book.
If you’re thinking about your personal library, making an active effort to wash hands before handling your books is a fantastic decision and something to try and stick to. When talking about places like school libraries, encouraging children to wash hands before visiting the library or having some hand sanitizer available for them to use is definitely something that you can do to minimize the chances of dirty hands damaging books.
Another culprit of damaged books is food. While sitting back and reading is a great time to snack on some of your favorite treats, it is also one of the easiest ways to do some damage to your favorite stories. For books that are within a library, completely banning food is a quick and easy way to ensure there isn’t any damage that occurs because of food. When it comes to your personal library, being aware of the chance of the food you’re snacking on doing damage is a must. Beyond that, it’s up to your discretion whether or not you choose to eat food while reading your books.
Most avid readers will use sticky notes as well as other supplies to mark parts of books that they were intrigued by or want to come back to. While this is extremely common, the last thing that you want is for these supplies to do damage to the book. For that reason, you should always spend some time to look into the supplies that you’re considering putting into your book. Though sticky notes are one of the more common supplies used, their sticky residue can get stuck on the pages and damage them. If possible, consider using paper bookmarks to hold your place so that you don’t have to worry about the pages being damaged.
If you know that your books are going to get quite a bit of use, choosing to invest in a book covering system is definitely worth it. These systems make it easy for you to put a clear cover on the covers of your books. Simply select your book, place the plastic over the cover, and use the system to create a seal that keeps liquids, foods, and other oils away from the paper. That way, if there is any liquid spilled or food that get splattered near the cover, it’s a quick and easy clean and you don’t need to worry about the book being damaged.
CoLibri Cover Systems offers an affordable and effective method of protecting your books. Whether you’re looking to protect books in a school library or you are wanting to protect the books in your personal library, this system can help. Take a minute to browse the different covering systems that we have available online and find the one that best suits your needs. ]]>One of the many spaces within a school that can get children excited about learning is the library. In today’s blog, the team at CoLibri Cover Systems is going to cover a few of the ways that you can work on creating an inviting library that children get excited about. Let’s get started.
Encouraging children to read leisurely is something that your library space should do and one of the best ways to do that is by creating cozy reading spaces for children to take advantage of. Adding fun bean bags, comfortable chairs, and places that they can lay back and dive into a story is definitely going to get them excited to visit the library.
Creative Tip: Create a theme for your reading space that ties into a book. This can help get people motivated to read certain books and tie a story into your library, while adding to the fun culture of your library.
Finding books that children enjoy reading is definitely one of the challenges that you want to tackle when organizing your library. One of the best things that you can do to appeal to your young readers while also contributing to your library space is to organize a featured book for each month. This will help children find stories that they’re more likely to enjoy, challenge them to get out of their comfort zone, and give you a fun theme to incorporate into your library.
Creativity Tip: Reach out to the teachers in the school and get an idea of what books are on their reading lists for the year. You might get some good ideas of which books would make great featured books of the month.
While reading is something that children thoroughly enjoy, the process of finding their way around the library or even just finding a book that they like can be extremely overwhelming. That is why one of the many things that you should take into consideration when working on the layout of your library is the organization. Take time to consider whether or not any of the chances that you’re making will make it more difficult for children to utilize the library.
Creativity Tip: Schedule a tour where children are able to go around the library and learn about where things are. Once they’ve completed the tour, set up a scavenger hunt where they go and find titles that fit into specific genres or parts of the library. This is a great way to keep them interested while also encouraging them to seek out titles on their own.
Getting children to read when they’re younger can be difficult, but one of the best ways to get them excited about reading lots is to organize s reading program where they must finish a specific number of books. The number of books could vary based on the age group or the reading level of the children. At the end of the program, reward all children that have finished the set number of books. This way, they see a reward tied to the amount that their reading, which is great for children whose interest for reading in down time hasn’t formed quite yet.
Creativity Tip: Create a different theme for each month that you host your reading program. Make sure to incorporate this new theme into all aspects of the program. From the way that they track the number of books that they’ve read, the bookmark they use to hold their place, and the prize that they receive in the end, make it something they can really get excited about. This will also help keep the concept of the reading program fresh from month to month.
When you have a library where children are excited to learn, you can guarantee that the books are going to get used. While that’s exactly what you want to happen, one of the best things that you can do for the students and the books within the library is invest in clear book protectors. These easy to apply protectants make it so that you don’t have to worry about the books getting damaged regardless of how many times they get checked out and read.
